PATH Dinner

Last year, Jessica Wishan from PATH came to talk a little about the service opportunities at their organization.  One of their programs that looked particularly exciting was PathCooks!   It’s a program where one group takes over one meal for the day.  We would cook and serve at one of the PATH locations.

We’re trying to set one up for February and will keep you posted.

Pizza Party for Homeless Kids

Last night’s pizza party at My Friend’s Place was a great success!

Thanks to Mike and Joey for once again doing the brunt of the work during the week, collecting, prepping and hauling all the equipment that makes this event possible.

Also Thanks to our great volunteers: regulars Claire and Brenda and our newbies Alla and Katie.

What did we do?

Each month All Saints donates money to buy pizza, cake, ice cream, and candy to host a birthday party for the homeless teens at My Friends Place

The 20s/30s group has been invited to be a part of this great ministry.  It’s a fun night of service and connecting not only with the teens we serve, but the staff and volunteers are all also 20s/30s.  After, we all go out for Thai next door at Thai Palm.

Hope to see you there next time!

We are starting a small group!

It’s kind of a new thing for us, but I think it’s a step in the right direction. …
WHERE: Angela & Sam Gebhardt’s House
ADDRESS: 3103 S Halm Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90034
DATE: JAN 31ST, 2012
TIME: 7:30-9:30
DATE & TIME & FREQUENCY: Angela and I were debating between a Mon and Tues. Looks like Tuesday is more doable for the group than Monday. If I’m really wrong, let me know. We are thinking 1 time a month to start…the 4th Tuesday of each month.
FIRST ONE: The first one will be at Angela & Sam Gebhardt’s house in Culver City. They have graciously volunteered their house. We can decide during the first meeting if it’s better for people to meet at one house, alternate houses, or the church.
DISCUSSION TOPICS: We are thinking that we could start with the book, 12 Steps to a Compassionate Life. There’s plenty to discuss in that book and we don’t have to necessarily only talk about the book. I’d love for it to be a place where we can also dialogue about individual situations and daily struggles each of us are having. BUY BOOK: You can buy it from the bookstore or from Amazon
7:30pm: Meet and greet (everyone bring wine or appetizer)
8:00pm: Start with 1 chapter/step in the 12 Steps to a Compassionate Life
915-930/45: Share an individual situations/struggles anyone is having and pray together
9:30~10:00: we are out of there..
Let me know your thoughts!

Some Initial Activities

We are beginning with a slew of activities, thought by members of the group, based on activities we are already doing in our lives.

We are opening ourselves up to our communities and the communities around us.

Planned recurring activities:

Vegan Dining with Christian: Try new vegan restaurant every thursday. But Christian challenges you to go full-on vegan for lent.

Small Talk, Big Ideas – meet with your parish priests to discuss books, movies, music, galleries, whatever! It’s casual.

A Night at the Movies – stop not having seen all those movies that get awards: make a resolution to see more movies.

Stairs Challenge – come out to the stairs on saturdays and train for the Los Angeles Stair Climb

Small Group – discuss a recent read with small group at someone’s home.

Gallery of the Month – visit our city’s ever-interesting range of galleries.

Inter-Faith Field Trips – We’ll visit other church’s services.
